Playdough -  Students will collaborate to plan, design and construct a variety of Playdough masterpieces; students will share their creations with other children.

Karate - This club will combines traditional martial arts training with high level character development.  Not only will children learn self-defense, they will also develop very positive feelings about themselves and others. Children will learn how to focus and concentrate. They have fun while they work out and take pride in becoming more physically fit. Studying Martial Arts builds mental character, physical strength, and the appreciation for the values of discipline, courtesy, and respect. History of the sport and culture will be taught throughout the session.

Hands-on Science - Students will participate in a variety of science experiments and explore the scientific process using a hands-on approach

Games,Games, Games - Students will learn the basics of popular family board games; students will practice various social skills such as cooperation, turn-taking listening and good sportsmanship.

 

K-2

 

Art - Students will participate in a variety of creative projects.

 

Travel the World - Join us as we explore new countries and experience what students in other cultures do for fun. Age-appropriate multicultural appreciation, geographic awareness, and language experienced through play.

 

Reading is Fun - Quality library time: studying authors, listening to stories, reading with 5th grade "Book Buddies". Enjoy a visit from the Bookmobile and a Library R.E.A.D. dog!

 

Games & Crafts - Students in grades 1 and 2 invited to tap into their creative side with a variety of craft projects -everything from fancy designer T-shirts to hand-painted garden stones to original beaded bracelets. We will add some fun games into the mix to keep the creative juices flowing.

 

Lego Construction - Students will collaborate to plan, design and construct a variety of Lego masterpieces; students will share their creations with other children.

Woodwork Building Club - With children’s kits donated by Home Depot, the children will build small wood projects. They will learn do-it-yourself skills use of tools and safety while instilling a sense of accomplishment. 

 

Gym Games - Students will participate in gym games like: kickball, Fruit Basket,Line Tag, Snowball Tag & more.  Lessons of teamwork, sportsmanship & "trying your best" will all be covered.

 

2-4

 

Intro to Martial Arts - Defensive movements based on traditional Chinese and Indonesian martial arts. Kids will gain flexibility, strength and knowledge of self-defense.

 

Jigsaw Puzzles - Students will work together to complete jigsaw puzzles, apply a coat of adhesive and frame the finished products.

 

Healthy Cooking - Students will learn about the importance of good nutrition and cook a variety of healthy foods.

Travel the World - The Travel the World Club will focus on the cultures and geography of different countries of the world and how to travel there.  We will be discussing and doing hands-on activities with topics such as time difference, currency, their flags, capital cities, typical customs, local food, clothes and music.  There will be speakers from each country each week, including Japan, The Netherlands, Scotland and Columbia.

 

Fitness Club - Students will focus on physical fitness and good nutrition.

  

We Are All Unique - Have you ever wondered how a person who can't see reads a book or gets around?  Have you ever wondered how a person who can't hear or speak can perform a song or talk to her or his friends?  In this club, students will learn what makes each of us unique, and how people who have unique challenges do everyday things in unique ways.  We will be learning about different abilities by experiencing, reading and creating our own books about the topic.

 

Knitting - Students will learn about the history of knitting, basic knitting stitches and complete a project by the end of the session.

Science Club - Students will participate in a variety of science experiments and learn about the scientific process, taking a hands-on approach.

Technology Club - Together, we’ll learn something new about technology every week. We'll focus our time on working with images, creating presentations and games with applications such as Powerpoint and Inspirations.  We'll also venture into the "web 2.0" world and learn about blogs and wikis.  We hope to also have a couple of "guest teachers" who will teach some of the basics of  trouble shooting computer problems and some simple programming.

Montserrat Art Club - Students will participate in arts & crafts activities such as: Earth Day Recycled Magazine Bowls, Under the Sea project, New Moon and Planet Mobile, and Banner to Prs. Obama! These are just some of the many fun activities.

Flexible Minds - Do you enjoy using your imagination?  Do new ideas come to you easily?  In this club students will learn and practice ways to stretch the way we think, imagine and remember through games.   We will explore our physical senses, learn "brain gym" skills to help with concentration and relaxation, create skits, build props & perform.

Dance Club - We will offer tap, jazz, hip-hop and some favorite line dances plus any dances that the children would like to learn. No special shoes needed, just sneakers.

American Girl Dolls - Students will read about the American Girl Dolls, study the time period in which they lived and make crafts from that era.

Healthy Kids Club - Students will participate in a series of health and wellness activities, focused on fitness, nutrition and staying healthy. 

Red Work Hand-Embroidery - We’ll learn an old hand-embroidery technique in this club. Also, I’ll provide some of the history while we embroider blocks that can be framed or made into a small pillow.

4 - 5

 

Magic Club - In the Magic club students will learn about the history of magic, the basic principles that makes a good trick deceiving, and the theatrics behind presentation (it's all in the acting!). Students will walk away from club meetings having learned tricks they can perform for their friends and family.

Sports Reporting - Ever dream of getting paid to watch the Boston Red Sox play? It could happen someday. Sports reporters actually make a living writing about their favorite teams. In this new club, students in grades 4 and 5 will learn the ins and outs of sports reporting, everything from how to keep score of a baseball game, to conducting an interview to crafting a story on deadline. Club will also cover history of some of the United States' greatest athletes and mix in some fun sports trivia, too.

Leadership - Learn and apply mentoring and leadership skills to assist younger students in K-2 Clubs: Art, Reading, Games and more!
