The Four States of Matter
Solid – Liquid – Gas - Plasma
|
|
Matter is anything that takes up space.
|

|
|
All
matter is composed of tiny particles called molecules.
|

|
Matter
can exist in one of 4 states.
|
Solids
have definite shapes.
Liquids
always take on the shape of the container.
A gas
can be compressed.
Plasma
is an ionized gas.
Matter
can change from on state to another by adding or removing heat.
Example: The Water Cycle

A combination of rare gases create a plasma.
Plasma is an
ionized gas and the fourth state of Matter.

Air Pressure Demonstration Fixture

Science
Club - Class 3

|
The Four States
of Matter
|

|
|
Description : The air pressure demonstration
fixture is designed to give students
hands on experience with
pneumatic components and a visual demonstration of gas compression, flow
and expansion.
|
|
Operation: Air is first pumped into the primary air
storage tank using a hand air pump. students can witness the compressing of
the air by observing the pressure gage. The
Isolation valves are then opened and
air is allowed to flow out of the primary air storage
tank through the flow control valve and flow meter and into the target air
tank. Students can observe the flow
meter reading and expansion of compressed air into the target air tank.
